Step 1 - Decide on a domain name

A domain name is your address on the internet. Make it simple and easy to remember. Try to make it relevant to the type of content you will have on your site. For example, if you are building a site about fishing, try to include the word fishing in your domain name. This will also help with SEO. Use my domain name search box at the bottom of this page to check if your domain name is available.

Step 2 - Sign up with a website hosting provider

In order to publish your site on the world wide web, it needs to be hosted by a webhost. The hosting provider will store your website on their servers and 'serve' it to the internet. We recommend BlueHost.com, but there are many other options out there. Have a look at my hosting comparison page to see some of the other options.

Step 3 - Set up and personalize your site

This is the fun part. Once you have signed up for a hosting package and registered your domain, you can start adding content to your site. BlueHost.com has a 1-click installation that creates a Wordpress site for you. This way you can start blogging or adding content within minutes.
