I’d like to Demo a great little Sales enablement tool that will make your Salesforce workflow easier and more efficient.
It is the new updated Salesforce plugin for Outlook and it’s an easy way to view prospect details and activity data right from within Outlook. You can also update a Contact’s Salesforce record without leaving your inbox.
To illustrate this functionality, I’m going to look at an email I received regarding one of our recent webinars.
The first thing I’ll do is select the email and open the Salesforce plugin by clicking the icon here.
NOTE: Opportunities will only show here if the contact has been added to the Opportunity as a Contact Role. So make sure your Opportunities all have Contact Roles.
Activity Tab
Clicking on the activity tab allows me to view this individual’s recent engagement history. Here we can see that they completed the registration form, watched the webinar recording, and viewed these some webpages.
I can also go further back in their activity history to see if there was anything else of interest.
Updating CRM Data
I did notice a discrepancy though between the CRM data and the information in the email that I think I should fix.
So I’ll go back to the Related tab, open the the record and edit it by clicking the pencil icon. This now allows me to correct any incorrect CRM data. When I click save the actual CRM data is updated.
Logging Emails
If I don’t have to reply I can log this email against the contact and one other related record in Salesforce like Account or Opportunity. To do this click the Log Email button and select the relevant records I want to add this correspondence to.
If the record is not listed, you can search for it in the Search Box. By clicking save, this email is now associated with the selected CRM records.
Where can I see it in Salesforce?
To show you where in Salesforce this shows up, I’ll open Salesforce and search for my Contact. When we look under their Activities, we can see that the email has been logged here.
In addition to this when I look at the opportunity, I see the same email associated with the opportunity record.
Creating Salesforce Records
You can also create a new Salesforce record from the plugin. So if for example you have correspondence from someone who is not in Salesforce, it easy to add a record for them. Simply select their email and click the Add to Salesforce button and complete their details.
Installation
This plugin is available for Mac, PC and Outlook online and can be added in the same way you would add any other Outlook Add-in. Simply search for Salesforce and install the Salesforce Add-In. Please note that this is not the Connector, but rather the Salesforce Add-in with the white background here.
On first start you’ll be asked to log in to Salesforce and authenticate. Once done you’ll be all set.
